CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
The heart of what was asked was never the ritual on the altar but the orientation of a life toward the good. People reach for the ceremony because it can be performed and then forgotten, leaving them free to live as they please. The rite becomes a substitute for the harder obedience it was meant to express.
God wanted the walk, not the smoke. A person can master every observance and still betray the thing the observance points to. Clinical Psychology lens

All the sitting and chanting in the world is empty if you leave the hall and behave badly. The practice is how you treat the next person you meet.
The fish trap exists for the sake of the fish, and once you have the fish you can forget the trap. People keep the trap and lose the thing it was for.
Do not quote the philosophy. Live so that someone watching could work out the philosophy from your behavior.
