Job 11:4 · World English Bible
For you say, ‘My doctrine is pure. I am clean in your eyes.’
To declare "my doctrine is pure" is to make a possession out of an idea and then stand guard over it. The mind loves this.

The same verse, read by one tradition.

EGO & BEING
To declare "my doctrine is pure" is to make a possession out of an idea and then stand guard over it. The mind loves this. It builds an identity from being right, from being clean, and then must defend that identity against everyone who disagrees.
But a belief you cling to is still only a thought, and no thought can make you whole. Real clarity is not a position you argue; it is what remains when the need to be right grows quiet and you rest in simple awareness. The urge to prove yourself clean then dissolves, because you no longer mistake your beliefs for who you are.
Ego v. Being lens
What would be left of you if you were not sure you were right?
The finger pointing at the moon is not the moon. People spend years defending the finger.
What can be fully stated is already not the whole of it. Any position you can hold has edges, and you are not your edges.
Out past the arguments about right and wrong there is a field. Meet there, where the belief you brought is no longer a weapon.
