Job 17:11 Meaning My Days Are Past
My days are past. My plans are broken off, as are the thoughts of my heart.

Job 17:11 · World English Bible
My days are past. My plans are broken off, as are the thoughts of my heart.
A broken plan only ends a life when the person decides the plan was the life. Grief of this depth runs through a private blueprint: a shape drawn for the years, an inner design of how it was all going to go.

SELF-HELP
A broken plan only ends a life when the person decides the plan was the life.
Grief of this depth runs through a private blueprint: a shape drawn for the years, an inner design of how it was all going to go. When conditions cancel the design, the gap generates a verdict about the whole life, and the verdict, not the losses, decides whether a person moves again.
Holding that verdict is the blueprint refusing to be redrawn, insisting the only life available was the one already sketched. Someone who believes it acts like a person with nothing ahead, and those actions compound into exactly that. Redrawing costs a real mourning for the design that died, and it returns the years still standing.

What have I already decided is over, without ever really checking?
Water keeps going because it takes the shape of whatever ground it finds. What stays rigid in one form is what breaks when the ground changes.
We are handed a role, not the script we wrote for ourselves. The grief comes from insisting on the part we had cast ourselves in rather than playing the one that arrived.
The first arrow is the loss itself. The second is the conclusion we draw about our whole life from it, and only the second one is ours to stop firing.
