CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

Clinical Psychology

What a person builds decides whether he survives the flood, and the flood always comes. A life raised on nothing solid gets carried off when the waters rise, swept away before its time because it was never anchored to anything that could hold. The chaos underneath ordinary existence is patient, and it finds the structures with no foundation first.

The accusation here, spoken against a suffering man, is that ruin proves rot beneath. That is often cruel and often wrong, since the flood drowns the innocent too. Yet the warning inside it stands. Order is not permanent by default. Build your life on something that can withstand deep water, because sooner or later the river tests every foundation you have laid.

Live Job 22:16 today

  1. Ask yourself what your sense of being okay actually rests on today. If the answer is a number in an app or how many people liked something, that is useful to know.
  2. Call or text the friend you only reach out to when something goes wrong. Relationships are foundations, and they get built in the dry season.
  3. When the week floods, too many messages, a deadline collapsing, say out loud what still holds. Two or three things, said plainly, before you keep going.

What is my life resting on that would not survive deep water?

Prepare in calm weather for the storm you cannot see yet. Trouble finds the unready first, not the unworthy.

Stoicism · Epictetus

When you build, ask first what the building rests on. Most people raise a tower on a foundation they never inspected.

Deep roots matter more than wide branches. A tree whose branches outgrow its roots is one the wind can lift away.
