Job 22:7 Meaning You Haven’t Given Water to the Weary
You haven’t given water to the weary to drink, and you have withheld bread from the hungry.

Job 22:7 · World English Bible
You haven’t given water to the weary to drink, and you have withheld bread from the hungry.
Dāna: Giving Dāna is generosity put into an act. A cup of water handed to someone worn out on the road costs almost nothing, which is why it is the first thing Eliphaz reaches for when he needs a sin to pin on Job.

BUDDHISM
Dāna: Giving Dāna is generosity put into an act. A cup of water handed to someone worn out on the road costs almost nothing, which is why it is the first thing Eliphaz reaches for when he needs a sin to pin on Job. Giving at this level runs on no calculation about whether the thirsty man deserves it; the thirst is the whole reason.
Macchariya: Stinginess Macchariya is the grip that closes the hand. Bread withheld is bread that exists, already baked and sitting in the house, kept back while someone stands hungry at the door. The tightening happens in the owner before it happens on the shelf, since he must first narrow who counts as his own.
Karuṇā: Compassion Karuṇā is the heart moving toward another's pain. Weary and hungry are conditions visible across a courtyard, needing no explanation, and compassion works from exactly that plain evidence. Job later swears under oath that his door stood open to travelers, which is this same reflex described from the inside.
Micchādiṭṭhi: Wrong view Micchādiṭṭhi is a view that misreads how causes work. Eliphaz has never seen Job turn away a thirsty man; he reasons backward from the ash heap and the boils to whatever crime would have earned them. The Buddha refused this same reversal, since present pain arrives by many roads: weather, illness, accident, the deeds of others.
Musāvāda: False speech Musāvāda is speech that departs from what the speaker knows. The withheld loaf is invented to fit a theory, and a charge fabricated against a man sitting in ashes lands harder than most lies, because he has no way to disprove it. Speech aimed at winning an argument rather than at saying what is so is why these three are told at the end that they have not spoken rightly.
Buddhism lens
Who is standing in plain sight needing something small from me that I have quietly decided they have not earned?
The sage gives and is not diminished by giving. Open hands move more than closed ones, and they cost less to carry.
Let your house be open wide, and let the poor be members of your household. Not a charity program, a door that simply does not get shut.
Be like the sun for grace and mercy. It does not interview the ground before it warms it, and the thirsty are not asked to qualify.
