Job 33:28 Meaning He Has Redeemed My Soul From Going

He has redeemed my soul from going into the pit. My life will see the light.’

What does Job 33:28 mean?

The pit is not only a place you fall into at the end. It is the state of unconsciousness you live in when you are wholly identified with the mind, lost in its stories of past and future, dragged down by the accumulated pain you carry within.

Ego v. Being

The pit is not only a place you fall into at the end. It is the state of unconsciousness you live in when you are wholly identified with the mind, lost in its stories of past and future, dragged down by the accumulated pain you carry within. This is the darkness the soul is delivered from.

The light is not somewhere far away either. It is the awareness that dawns the moment you awaken to the present, becoming the conscious space in which your life quietly unfolds. When you are delivered from the pit of compulsive thinking, your life sees the light because you are finally awake to it, here, now.

Live Job 33:28 today

  1. Catch yourself mid scroll today, that pulled under feeling, and just put the phone face down. Look at the room you are actually sitting in for thirty seconds.
  2. In your next conversation, when your mind starts rehearsing old grievances about this person, drop the rehearsal and listen to the voice in front of you.
  3. Stuck in traffic or a slow line, when the mind starts its loop about everything wrong, feel your hands and your feet instead. You are here. That is the whole move.

Where today do you go under without realizing you have gone under?

Buddhism · the Dhammapada

Suffering follows a mind caught in its own reactions, and ease follows a mind that has become clear. The change is in the mind, not in the circumstances.

Zen

Before awakening, chopping wood and carrying water. After awakening, chopping wood and carrying water. Nothing in the day changes except that you are actually there for it.

Tao Te Ching

Muddy water clears when you stop stirring it. Stillness is not something you add, it is what is left when the churning stops.
