Job 41:25 · World English Bible

The creature belongs to the deep, and the deep is the part of us the waking mind does not rule. Mostly it stays hidden.

PSYCHOANALYSIS
The creature belongs to the deep, and the deep is the part of us the waking mind does not rule. Mostly it stays hidden. Now and then something rises from it, huge and indifferent to our plans and our strength.
The ones it frightens most are the strong. A man used to being in charge has built his life on staying in control, so when a force appears that no willpower can command, his confidence breaks first. He runs because his strength was made for enemies he could overpower, and what rises from the deep is not one of them.
Psychoanalysis lens
What am I still trying to overpower when the honest move is to stop pushing?
What is hard and rigid breaks first, and what is soft and yielding survives. Strength that cannot bend is the most fragile thing in the room.
Some things are up to us and most are not, and confusing the two is what wrecks a confident person. The obstacle only overwhelms you where you believed your will was in charge.
Clinging to control is itself the suffering. The moment the grip loosens, what seemed like a catastrophe becomes simply the weather.
