Joel 3:10 Meaning Beat Your Plowshares Into Swords

Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears. Let the weak say, ‘I am strong.’

What does Joel 3:10 mean?

The instruction to the weak is the heart of the matter: a man declares the state he wishes to occupy, not the one the facts report. To say I am strong while feeling weak is to reforge the inner tool, turning the mind from tending present conditions to cutting new ones.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The instruction to the weak is the heart of the matter: a man declares the state he wishes to occupy, not the one the facts report. To say I am strong while feeling weak is to reforge the inner tool, turning the mind from tending present conditions to cutting new ones. The plough that worked the old ground is beaten into the blade that clears fresh territory.

The saying is an assumption, the deliberate wearing of a condition before any evidence supports it. A person weak in circumstance who insists inwardly on strength is not lying; he is choosing the state that will remake the circumstance. What a man affirms of himself in the teeth of appearances is what he slowly becomes. Strength claimed while still weak is strength beginning, and the claim is the first act of its arrival.

Live Joel 3:10 today

  1. Before the day starts, say one true-in-advance sentence about yourself, quietly, even if today's evidence disagrees. Say it like you mean it, not like you are hoping.
  2. The next time someone asks how you are, skip the automatic complaint. Give an honest answer that leaves room for you to be doing well.
  3. In the meeting or the hard call where you feel smallest, sit up, slow your voice down, and speak from the person you are becoming rather than the one the nerves report.

What have I been saying about myself out of habit, that I no longer have to agree with?
