John 10:29 Meaning My Father Who Has Given Them

My Father who has given them to me is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of my Father’s hand.

What does John 10:29 mean?

The safety of a mind does not rest on its own effort but on the Source that is greater than everything the ego can raise against it. Fear invents a long list of forces that might tear the self away, and the mind exhausts itself defending against each one.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The safety of a mind does not rest on its own effort but on the Source that is greater than everything the ego can raise against it. Fear invents a long list of forces that might tear the self away, and the mind exhausts itself defending against each one. But what holds it is prior to all of them and larger than the whole sum of threats, so the defending was never needed and the danger was never real.

To know that nothing can pluck the self from that hand is to stop bracing against a loss that cannot happen. The mind was given to Love and kept by Love, and no imagined enemy is strong enough to undo a gift the Source itself has made.

Father: the Source greater than every fear the mind can conceive, the whole in which the self is safely held. Hand: the keeping of that Source, the grasp of Love from which nothing can be torn away.

Live John 10:29 today

  1. When you catch yourself running the worst case in your head on the drive home or lying awake, stop and ask what in you could actually be lost. Let the answer be nothing, and let your shoulders come down.
  2. With one person today, drop the small defense you usually keep up, the explaining, the proving you are fine, the getting ahead of their opinion of you. You do not need to win them over to be safe.
  3. In the meeting or the hard message, feel the bracing start and let it go before you answer. Speak from the part of you that was not in danger to begin with.

What have you been guarding that was never actually at risk?

The one who holds to the source is not endangered by the thousand things. Nothing in the changing world can take away what was never a possession in the first place.

Bhagavad Gita 2

Weapons cannot cut it, fire cannot burn it, water cannot wet it, wind cannot dry it. The real self is untouched by every force the world can aim at it.

What is truly yours no one can take, and what can be taken was never truly yours. Once you see which is which, the long list of things to defend goes quiet.
