CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The teacher within calls himself a door, and a door is not a thing to be worshipped but a way through. He is the single opening by which the frightened parts of the mind pass out of the enclosure of guilt into the safety of love. There is one correction, one shift from fear to love, and it is this passage he names as himself, the way home offered to every thought that would leave the prison it mistook for shelter.

So salvation is not a wall to climb or a reward to earn. It is an opening already standing in the mind, and the teacher who is that opening asks nothing of the world and only that the mind consent to walk through into the innocence waiting on the other side.

Door: the one opening in the mind from fear into love, the single passage through which every thought returns home Sheep: the parts of the self held within guilt's enclosure, the thoughts that pass through the one opening into safety

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

A door is an opening, a place of passage. When presence speaks as the I Am, it names itself the door, the threshold between two ways of living.

On one side is the restless world of thought, where you are lost in problems, memories, and the endless commentary of the mind. On the other side is the aliveness of this moment, the peace of simply being here. You do not reach it through belief or effort. You pass through the doorway the instant you become present, when your attention turns from thinking back to the quiet fact that you are. That awareness is the way in, and it stands always open.

Live John 10:7 today

  1. If you catch yourself replaying something you feel guilty about, let the loop finish and then set the phone down and take one slow breath instead of starting the loop again. You are not being asked to fix the feeling, just to step out of the room you built around it.
  2. With one person today, leave the door open rather than defending yourself. If a text or a comment stings, answer with a real question about them instead of a case for you.
  3. In a tense meeting or a long line, when the heat rises, remind yourself that there is a way out of this feeling and it costs nothing. Unclench your jaw, drop your shoulders, and say the next sentence a little more gently than you planned.

What am I still treating as a wall when I could walk through it?

The same truth in other traditions

Tao Te Ching 11

A door is useful because of the empty space in it. What lets you through is not the solid part but the opening, so the way out of a locked mind is an absence, not a thing to acquire.

Zen · Mumonkan (The Gateless Gate)

The gate has no gate. Nothing is keeping you where you are except your belief that a barrier stands there, and stepping through is the whole of the practice.

Sufism · Rumi

Why keep knocking at a door that has been open all along. The wall you are pressed against is the one thing you brought with you.
