John 11:9 Meaning Jesus Answered

Jesus answered, “Aren’t there twelve hours of daylight? If a man walks in the day, he doesn’t stumble, because he sees the light of this world.

What does John 11:9 mean?

There is an allotted span in which the mind may walk, and while it walks in light it does not fall. To see by the light is to look through the eyes of love, and a mind that looks that way meets no obstacle it cannot pass, because it is not seeing enemies or threats at all.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

There is an allotted span in which the mind may walk, and while it walks in light it does not fall. To see by the light is to look through the eyes of love, and a mind that looks that way meets no obstacle it cannot pass, because it is not seeing enemies or threats at all. What trips the traveler is never the road; it is the darkness he carries. In light the same path is walked without fear, for the mind that perceives with love finds nothing there to fear.

The day is the mind's chosen hour of clarity, the choice to see by love rather than by dread. Stumbling belongs only to the one who has darkened his own sight. Walk while the light lasts, and the way is sure.

Day: the state of mind that perceives by love, the clarity in which nothing appears as a threat. Light of this world: the vision of the awakened mind, the seeing that reveals the way as safe and every figure as innocent.

The number 12 is the full round of powers that completes a whole cycle within a person, the 12 measures of the inner day laid out in order. To walk in the day is to move through life while the inner light is risen and the awakened awareness is shining through the eyes; in that condition the steps do not falter because the ground is seen. Light here is that risen state of consciousness illuminating the path from inside. A person governed by the awakened current sees where the flesh is going and does not trip, because the guiding awareness is present and the way ahead stands lit within.

12 hours: the complete round of inner powers that makes up one whole cycle of the awakened day within a person. Light of this world: the risen state of consciousness shining out through the eyes and lighting the ground a person walks.

Live John 11:9 today

  1. On your commute today, try seeing the people around you as not against you. Nobody in that traffic is your enemy, they are all just trying to get somewhere.
  2. Walk into one conversation today without the read you usually bring. Set down what you assume this person thinks of you and find out instead.
  3. When a meeting or a message gets sharp, check whether what you are reacting to is in the room or in your head. If it is in your head, you can put it down and keep walking.

What have I been treating as a wall in front of me, when it might be a shadow I am casting?
