John 13:23 · World English Bible
One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was at the table, leaning against Jesus’ breast.
The disciple resting against the breast is that part of a person drawn closest to the heart center, where the inner Christ is seated. The bosom is the chest, the seat of love and of the higher feeling, and leaning upon it is the state in which a faculty of the man rests in union with his own highest self rather than in the noise of the head.

ESOTERIC
The disciple resting against the breast is that part of a person drawn closest to the heart center, where the inner Christ is seated. The bosom is the chest, the seat of love and of the higher feeling, and leaning upon it is the state in which a faculty of the man rests in union with his own highest self rather than in the noise of the head.
The one so loved is not favored above the rest by accident. It is the receptive, feeling nature that lays itself against the heart and so draws its life directly from the source within.
The bosom: the chest and heart center, the seat of love where the inner divine self resides. The disciple leaning there: the receptive, feeling faculty of a person that rests closest to the heart and draws its life from it.

Where do you go to rest when your head will not stop?
The heart, not the clever head, is where the real knowing sits. Lean there and you drink from the spring instead of carrying buckets.
Stop listening with the ears and the mind, and listen with your whole being. The quiet attention receives what effort cannot catch.
Love is its own road. The one who simply rests close, with affection and no argument, arrives where the scholars are still reading.
