CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
Love is known by its fruits, not its declarations. A mind that has truly chosen love will live by love's word, seeing others as innocent, and that gentle seeing is the whole of what is asked. There is no obedience here that a fearful mind must strain to reach, only the quiet turning toward the teacher it has finally come to trust.
The promise is that love then makes its home in such a mind. Not as a visitor who arrives and departs, but as a presence that settles and stays, so the mind that once felt alone becomes the dwelling place of the Love it sought.
Abode: the mind made a settled home for love, no longer a place love only visits.

EGO & BEING
You have spent so long trying to reach the sacred, as if it lived at the top of some ladder you must climb, exhausted and never quite arriving. But notice the movement in that image: always striving outward and upward, away from where you are. What if the direction were reversed. What if what you long for is not to be attained at all, but to be welcomed, allowed to make its home in the stillness you already are.
To keep the words is not to strain harder. It is to become quiet enough that presence can settle in you and stay. When you stop identifying with the restless thinking and rest as the awareness beneath it, something takes up residence there, an abiding peace that is not visiting but living, at home. This is not far away or hard to earn. It comes to you where you are, and it makes its abode in the very ground of your being, which was always meant to be its dwelling.

ESOTERIC
Love here is the pull of the whole being toward its own higher source, and where that pull holds steady the source no longer stays distant. The Father is the unseen origin of life within a person and the Son is that same life made visible in thought and act; when the 2 are held together and the inner sayings are kept, they settle in as a fixed dwelling rather than a passing visitation.
What religion pictures as God arriving from outside is the origin and its expression coming to rest inside the same body, taking up a lasting home in the one who has grown quiet enough to hold them.
Father: the unseen origin of life and awareness, the still source out of which everything in a person rises Son: that same source made visible, life expressed as thought, word, and act Abode: a fixed inner dwelling, the state where the higher no longer visits but settles and stays

SUFISM
Maḥabba: Love Maḥabba is the love that runs under everything else a person does. Someone who loves like that wants to know whether their love counts for anything, especially when the one they love is out of reach. These teachers answer by looking at ordinary hours: love shows in what a person keeps doing when nobody is watching.
If you love God, follow me, and God will love you: love proves itself in following This line from the Quran ties three things into one thread: loving God, doing what God asked, and being loved back. For anyone unsure whether their feeling is strong enough, the weight shifts off the feeling and onto the next thing they do. The promise attached is that the following gets answered, with love coming back the other way.
When I love him, I become the hearing he hears with: God's love reaches into daily life In this saying God speaks, and it begins with small steady acts done out of love. Those acts get answered, and love comes back toward the person who kept turning that way. The nearness then works through the person's own hearing and sight and hands, close in the middle of an ordinary day.
Heaven and earth cannot hold Me, but the heart of My servant holds Me: God settles inside a person Sufi teachers repeat this saying of God more than almost any other. For someone searching outward for a presence they are losing, it points back to the heart, the center where a person loves and decides. That center gets spoken of as a room, somewhere a guest stays rather than passes through.
Uns: Ease in God's company Uns names the settled ease a person feels near God. Awe on its own keeps someone standing at a careful distance, watching every step, and uns is what fills in once that distance closes. The closeness resembles an old friendship, where two people sit quietly together and nothing has to be performed.
Christian Psychology lens
If nobody could hear what you say about love, what would your day still show?
The good person is slow to speak and quick to act. Fine words with nothing behind them are not the thing itself.
Stop striving and the natural way acts through you. What has to be forced is not yet settled in you.
The guest you have waited for will not stay in a house still full of clutter. Clear the room and love moves in rather than visiting.
