CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Within every mind there is a Teacher who was placed there to answer the ego, a gentle Voice that undoes fear by reminding the mind of what it truly is. This Teacher does not add new learning. It brings back what was always known and only hidden beneath the noise of guilt.

The teaching that heals is really a remembering. Every lesson of love the mind has buried is still whole within it, and the inner Voice restores it, so the mind recognizes as its own truth what it had merely forgotten.

Comforter: the inner Teacher of love, the Voice that answers the ego and restores the mind's own knowing.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The Comforter is memory, but a memory that runs forward as well as back. When a man imagines an end and feels it as already his, something in him keeps that scene alive when the waking mind forgets it. That faithful keeper is the Holy Ghost, the part of consciousness that holds an assumption steady until the world catches up to it.

It teaches by reminding. A desire, once truly accepted, returns to you as impulse, as coincidence, as the sudden knowing of what to do next. You spoke a word into yourself and it comes back matured. So the promise holds that all things are brought to remembrance. The feeling planted earlier is the thing that later ripens into fact, and the ripening feels like being reminded of what was always yours.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

The Comforter is not a separate person arriving from elsewhere but the indwelling spirit already latent in a person, the holy breath that instructs from within once the higher self awakens it. To teach all things and bring all things to remembrance is the work of inner knowing: the truth is not learned fresh from outside but recovered, drawn up from a memory the soul already carries beneath the surface of the mind. The Father sends it in the name of the awakened Christ-nature, meaning the higher mind releases this inner teacher when a person is ready to receive.

When the divine breath is stirred inside the body, understanding rises as recollection, and a person finds he is remembering what his own deeper self has always known.

Live John 14:26 today

  1. Before you look up an answer today, pause and ask yourself what you already know about it. Give yourself ten seconds before the search bar.
  2. When someone asks your advice, resist supplying it immediately. Ask one question that helps them hear what they already know.
  3. In the middle of a loud, rushed day, stop for one breath and let the noise settle. The thing you forgot you knew usually arrives in that gap.

What do you already know that you keep looking outside yourself to confirm?

The same truth in other traditions

Plato · Socratic teaching

Learning is really recollection. Nothing is being poured into you, something already in you is being drawn out.

Zen

Your own nature is the teacher. Sit still enough and the dust settles, and you see what was there before the dust.

Taoism · Zhuangzi

The mind becomes clear the way muddy water does, not by stirring harder but by being left alone.
