John 15:3 · World English Bible
You are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
The mind is not made clean by anything it does to itself, by no scrubbing away of a stain it believes is real. It is clean because it has heard the one truth and let that truth be true, and in the light of that hearing the imagined guilt simply has nowhere left to stand.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
The mind is not made clean by anything it does to itself, by no scrubbing away of a stain it believes is real. It is clean because it has heard the one truth and let that truth be true, and in the light of that hearing the imagined guilt simply has nowhere left to stand.
What purifies is not effort but acceptance. A mind that had thought itself soiled discovers it was only mistaken, and the moment it listens to love speaking of its innocence, the whole story of its unworthiness is undone. Cleanness was always its condition; it needed only to be reminded.

EGO & BEING
You are already what you are seeking.
Nothing needs to be added or earned. Hearing the teaching has already dissolved a layer of illusion, so purity is recognition rather than achievement.

ESOTERIC
Cleansing here is inner, not ritual. The word spoken is the higher truth received into the mind, and that truth is what purges the consciousness of its lower obscuring matter. Once the teaching has entered and taken hold, the faculties it reaches are already made clean by it.
The purity is not earned by outward washing but produced by understanding itself, the living word working through a person like a pruning that clears away what does not bear. What clears the inner life is truth taken in and grasped, nothing applied from outside.
Word: the higher truth spoken into the mind, the living understanding that purges the lower nature
Christian Psychology lens
What would today feel like if I stopped trying to earn a cleanness I already have?
The mirror was never dirty. You were polishing the dust in the air and calling it the glass.
You do not become free. You recognize that the bondage was imagined, and the recognition itself is the freedom.
The gold does not become gold by being praised. It was always gold under the mud, waiting only for someone to wash it and say so.
