John 16:23 Meaning In That Day You Will Ask Me

In that day you will ask me no questions. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.

What does John 16:23 mean?

When the mind at last knows love directly, it no longer questions from the outside as if truth were far off and had to be pried loose. The old asking, anxious and uncertain, falls silent, for a mind that has recognized what it is does not interrogate love but rests in it, already answered before the question forms.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

When the mind at last knows love directly, it no longer questions from the outside as if truth were far off and had to be pried loose. The old asking, anxious and uncertain, falls silent, for a mind that has recognized what it is does not interrogate love but rests in it, already answered before the question forms.

To ask in that spirit is to align the mind's desire with what love already wills, and such asking is never refused. It is not a plea sent to a distant power but a joining with the Source of love, so that what is sought and what is given become the same thing, and the mind receives because it has stopped asking for anything love would not already give.

Realization ends the questioning.

Questions dissolve in direct knowing. The asking mind quiets because the gap it was trying to bridge is gone.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

That day is the state of union in which the questioning outer mind falls silent, having nothing left to ask because it has become one with what it sought. To ask in the name is to ask from the level of the inner Christ-consciousness, using its nature, not merely repeating a word. What is asked from that height is given, because at that level the asker and the source are no longer divided. When a person prays from the higher self rather than the lower, the answer is already inside the asking.

Live John 16:23 today

  1. Before you ask for something today, pause and ask what you actually want underneath it. Half the time the real thing is smaller and already available.
  2. Spend one conversation with no agenda. Don't steer it toward what you need from the person, just be with them and see what happens.
  3. When you want an outcome badly at work, do your best work and then release the grip on the result. The effort is yours, the verdict mostly isn't.

What have you been asking for that you may already have?

Tao Te Ching

The one who knows does not speak. When understanding arrives, the questioning quiets, not from defeat but because the asking has been answered.

Sufism · Rabia

She prayed asking for nothing, saying that if she loved God for heaven or out of fear of hell, she had not loved at all. Love that wants nothing is already full.

Bhagavad Gita

Act without grasping at the fruit. When your wanting lines up with the way things are, there is nothing left to bargain for.
