John 19:21 Meaning The Chief Priests of the Jews Therefore

The chief priests of the Jews therefore said to Pilate, “Don’t write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but, ‘he said, “I am King of the Jews.” ’ ”

What does John 19:21 mean?

The ruling powers of a person, the fixed beliefs that police the mind, will always object to the claim that the awakened self reigns. They want the title read as accusation, as something merely spoken and disowned, never as an established fact written over the head of the crucified man.

The ruling powers of a person, the fixed beliefs that police the mind, will always object to the claim that the awakened self reigns. They want the title read as accusation, as something merely spoken and disowned, never as an established fact written over the head of the crucified man. What hangs on the cross is the divine nature stretched into flesh, and the crown it wears is authority over the whole inner realm. The mind's old officials fight to keep that authority provisional, a rumor rather than a coronation. The crucifixion itself is where the inner ruler is proclaimed, because the higher self is enthroned exactly at the point where the body is offered up.

The title over the cross states plainly that the true governor of a human being is the awakened I within, not the priestly habits that would rather it stayed a mere claim.

  1. Today, when you decide something small and your mind starts hunting for someone to approve it, make the decision anyway and let it stand unapproved.
  2. When a person says you are not really the kind of person who does this, say a plain thank you and keep doing it. You do not owe them a debate.
  3. Under pressure, when the old voice says you are just pretending to be capable, treat that voice as an opinion and not a verdict. Act from what you actually know you can do.

Your judgments are yours alone and nothing can touch them without your consent. The authority there is not provisional, it is simply yours.
