The crucifixion happens at the skull, the place where a person is fixed to a single state until it takes form. The garments divided into four parts are the outer self broken up and parceled out among the senses, each faculty seizing its share of the visible man. That much can be split, because the outer life is divisible and always being pulled in pieces.
The coat is different. It has no seam and was woven from the top throughout, made in one piece from above and not stitched together from below. This is the self that comes down whole from the awareness of being, the identity imagination weaves entire rather than assembling out of parts. The senses cannot divide it, because it was never sewn. A person's outer conditions come apart in every direction, but the self given from above stays one seamless thing, untouched by the hands tearing at everything around it.
