John 20:21 Meaning Jesus Therefore Said to Them Again

Jesus therefore said to them again, “Peace be to you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.”

What does John 20:21 mean?

Peace is given twice because a mind hears it once as comfort and only later as a task. To receive love is also to be sent by it, for what heals a mind cannot stay still in it; the correction that is kept becomes the correction that is shared.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Peace is given twice because a mind hears it once as comfort and only later as a task. To receive love is also to be sent by it, for what heals a mind cannot stay still in it; the correction that is kept becomes the correction that is shared. The sending is not a burden laid upon the peaceful; it is peace continuing outward, extending itself the way it was given.

A mind at peace becomes the means by which peace reaches another, sent exactly as it was found. There is no gift here that is not also a giving. The one who has been met by love is now the meeting place for someone else, and in offering what it received, it keeps it.

The Father: the Source from which love is sent, the origin that gives without losing. Those sent: the healed mind become a carrier of peace, extending to others the very gift it was given.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

Peace be unto you. The peace comes first, before any task is given. This is not the fragile calm that depends on circumstances. It is the deep stillness of presence, already here beneath the restless mind whenever you stop resisting this moment.

Only out of that peace does the sending come. As I was sent, so I send you. What flows from stillness is action that does not drain you, because it no longer springs from the anxious, striving self. Rooted in presence, you let life move through you and do its work, carrying that same peace into all you touch.

Live John 20:21 today

  1. When something settles you today, a walk, a song, a good ten minutes, let it change how you speak in the next conversation. Calm that stays private is only half received.
  2. Pick one person who is having a worse week than you and do the small concrete thing, pick up their call, bring the coffee, cover the task. You are handing on exactly what you were handed.
  3. In a tense meeting or a tense car, be the one who lowers the temperature instead of matching it. You cannot pass along peace you are not currently standing in, so start there.

Where could you pass on today what someone gave you?
