When a mind loses sight of its purpose, it returns to the old labor it knew before, hoping the familiar effort will fill the emptiness. So a mind goes back to what it has always done, and others in the same fear go with it, for the belief in lack is contagious and gathers company. Yet the labor undertaken in darkness yields nothing, because effort in the service of fear cannot produce what only love can give.
The empty net is not a punishment but a teaching. A mind that works apart from its true function will draw up nothing that lasts, however long it toils, until it remembers who is meant to guide the work.
