Nicodemus is the reasoning mind, the part of a person that measures everything by the senses and cannot grasp a birth it did not witness. To be a master of Israel and miss this is to know every outer teaching and still see nothing.

MANIFESTATION
Nicodemus is the reasoning mind, the part of a person that measures everything by the senses and cannot grasp a birth it did not witness. To be a master of Israel and miss this is to know every outer teaching and still see nothing. What Scripture describes is an event inside the reader, a self born a second time out of his own skull. Learning stacked high explains nothing here.
The reproach is gentle but exact. A mind trained only to weigh evidence stands baffled before the one birth that matters, the awakening of imagination as the creative power a person is. He knows the words and misses the meaning. The birth from above is not argued into being by the clever mind. It comes to the one willing to feel himself already the person he longs to become, past all his reasons for doubting it.

Where is my knowing a great deal keeping me from understanding anything?
A scholar came full of learning and was told his cup had no room left. Knowing a great deal can be the exact thing standing in the way.
Thinking you know is the sickness, and knowing that you do not know is health. Real understanding begins where the certainty stops.
There is a knowing that comes from books and a knowing that comes from being broken open. The second one cannot be studied for.
