John 6:48 Meaning I Am the Bread of Life

I am the bread of life.

What does John 6:48 mean?

There is a hunger no meal can satisfy, a restlessness that keeps you reaching for the next thing, certain that fulfillment lies just ahead. The mind calls it wanting more.

Ego v. Being

There is a hunger no meal can satisfy, a restlessness that keeps you reaching for the next thing, certain that fulfillment lies just ahead. The mind calls it wanting more. But what you truly hunger for is not out there in the world of form. It is the aliveness of your own being.

To be the bread of life is to be that which nourishes you at the deepest level, and that is presence itself, the simple awareness of being here now. When you stop searching outside and rest in that inner aliveness, the craving settles, because you are finally fed by the one thing that was never absent: the life that you already are.

  1. The next time you feel the urge to buy something small to lift your mood, wait ten minutes and feel what is actually underneath the urge.
  2. Ask someone how they are and actually wait for the real answer, giving them your attention instead of half of it.
  3. In the middle of a demanding day, stop for one breath and feel that you are alive right now, with nothing accomplished yet. That aliveness is not a reward for finishing.

Where am I looking for a fullness I already have?
