John 7:36 · World English Bible
What is this word that he said, ‘You will seek me, and won’t find me;’ and ‘Where I am, you can’t come’?
Ye shall seek me and shall not find me. Of course, because seeking is the mind reaching into past and future, while what you seek is here, in the one place the mind refuses to look.
From the Ego v. Being reading below.
The same verse, read by 2 traditions.

EGO & BEING
Ye shall seek me and shall not find me. Of course, because seeking is the mind reaching into past and future, while what you seek is here, in the one place the mind refuses to look. You search everywhere except where you already are.
Where I am, thither ye cannot come, not because a door is locked, but because 'where I am' is presence itself, and no amount of thinking can carry you into it. The thinking is exactly what keeps you outside. You do not reach the present moment by seeking harder. You arrive the moment you stop seeking and grow still and awake right where you stand.

AWARENESS
Puzzlement is the mind's way of postponing. It turns a living difficulty into a riddle to be solved later, and while it turns the sentence over, nothing in the man turning it has changed.
Seeking cannot reach that place because the seeker is made of the very thing that must go. Wherever you look, you carry the looking with you, and the looking is the wall. There the one who searches has evaporated, and no amount of chewing on a sentence will move anyone an inch closer. Sit quietly, and the searcher begins to thin.
Ego v. Being lens
How much of my searching is just a way of not being here?
The one who searches for the self with the self is like an eye trying to see itself. Set down the search and the seeing is already happening.
You do not have to travel to understand. Stay still, and what is near becomes clear.
People go away to the coast and the mountains for peace, when they could have it this moment by turning inward. The place you are looking for has no address.
