John 8:24 Meaning I Said Therefore to You That You
I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.

John 8:24 · World English Bible
I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.
To sin, in its oldest sense, means to miss the point of human existence, to live blindly and suffer without knowing why. And the point that is missed is always the same, this simple, wordless sense of I Am that is present in you before any thought, the awareness that you exist at all.
From the Ego v. Being reading below.

EGO & BEING
To sin, in its oldest sense, means to miss the point of human existence, to live blindly and suffer without knowing why. And the point that is missed is always the same, this simple, wordless sense of I Am that is present in you before any thought, the awareness that you exist at all.
If you never recognize that in yourself, you remain identified with the anxious, thinking ego to the end, and you die as you lived, asleep to your own being. To awaken to the I Am within you is to stop missing the mark, because you finally know yourself as the aware presence rather than the story in your head.

MANIFESTATION
Sin, in its plainest sense, is missing the mark, aiming your sense of self at something less than what you want. To die in your sins is to go on being defined by lack and limitation until the failing state finishes you. The remedy given is belief that "I am he," that the power to reshape your life is your own awareness and nowhere else.
A man who cannot accept this keeps searching outside himself for rescue. Outside himself there is none. He stays chained to the very conditions he complains about. The one who accepts it stops missing the mark, because he now aims from the identity he wants rather than the one he inherited. Life changes when a person locates the creative power in himself instead of the sky.
Ego v. Being lens
How much of your life goes by without you being there for it?
Ask what you are and you come to the simple fact that you are, before any name or story. That bare knowing is the thing worth finding.
A whole life can be spent counting other people's treasures while never touching your own. The waking is to turn and look at what is already here.
You have been knocking on doors for years, looking for what has been inside you the entire time. Missing it is the only real loss.
