Jonah 2:10 · World English Bible
Then Yahweh spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah on the dry land.
The great fish is the belly of the subconscious, the dark swallowing deep into which a fleeing consciousness sinks when it turns from its own higher calling. Being cast back onto dry land is the return of the self from that submersion into the daylight of ordinary waking awareness, delivered up once the descent has done its work.

ESOTERIC
The great fish is the belly of the subconscious, the dark swallowing deep into which a fleeing consciousness sinks when it turns from its own higher calling. Being cast back onto dry land is the return of the self from that submersion into the daylight of ordinary waking awareness, delivered up once the descent has done its work. The self that ran downward has been carried in the belly of its own depths and now finds itself set again on solid ground, changed by the darkness it passed through. This is the rising of a person out of a swallowed, unconscious state back into clear standing life, expelled at the moment the inner deep has finished what it held him to do.
Jonah, whose name opens to dove, is the spirit-self that fled and has now been returned. The dry land is the firm plane of conscious life after the plunge into the deep.
The fish: the swallowing belly of the subconscious, the dark deep that takes a fleeing self down into itself The dry land: the solid ground of ordinary waking awareness, the plane a person is set back upon after the descent Jonah: the dove-self, the spirit driven down into the deep and delivered up again once its work below is done

The swimmer at the great waterfall was asked how he survived the churning water. He said he had no method: he went down with the water as it went down and came up with it as it came up.
After the great doubt, the mountains are the same mountains. The ordinary world comes back, and the person standing in it is not the same person.
