The feeling nature goes out to meet the driven ego and welcomes it in with soft words, and this welcome is the trap. Jael is the emotional side of a person, and Sisera is the servant of the mind, the ego that has run hard and now looks for rest.

ESOTERIC
The feeling nature goes out to meet the driven ego and welcomes it in with soft words, and this welcome is the trap. Jael is the emotional side of a person, and Sisera is the servant of the mind, the ego that has run hard and now looks for rest. The invitation sounds like mercy. It is the setup for a killing.
When the ego turns aside into the tent, it enters the very ground where it will be undone, covered over as though sheltered while the feeling nature makes ready to drive the point home. This is how the lower will is broken inside a person, not by open war but by being drawn in and quieted first, then struck through the head. The soothing is bait. The fear the ego is told to drop is the one thing that might have saved it.
Jael: the feeling and emotional side of a person, which can lure and undo the driven mind. Sisera: the servant of the mind, the ego and its emotions run hard and looking for rest. Tent: the covering of the body, the inner ground where the ego turns aside and is undone.
Esoteric lens
What invitation in your life sounds like rest and is actually a trap?
The teaching warns that the most dangerous states are the ones that feel almost exactly like kindness. Soothing can be a way of putting something to sleep.
The soft and yielding overcome the hard and driving. What looks like surrender is often the thing that wins.
The ego is not defeated in open combat, where it only grows stronger. It is undone when it is finally relaxed enough to let go of its guard.
