Judges 6:10 Meaning I Said to You

I said to you, “I am Yahweh your God. You shall not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell.” But you have not listened to my voice.’

What does Judges 6:10 mean?

The false gods are never only statues in someone else's land. They are the forms your own mind turns into idols: possessions, opinions, the regard of others, the endless demands of fear itself.

Ego v. Being

The false gods are never only statues in someone else's land. They are the forms your own mind turns into idols: possessions, opinions, the regard of others, the endless demands of fear itself. You bow to them without knowing it, and they rule you through anxiety.

Beneath them is a deeper voice, quieter than thought, the presence that simply says I am. You have not obeyed it, not from rebellion, but because you could not hear it beneath your own mental noise. When you grow still and listen, the false gods lose their power, because you no longer look to them for a peace that is already within you.

Too much color blinds the eye, too much noise deafens the ear, too much chasing leaves the heart restless. The sage keeps to what is inward and plain.

Buddhism

Craving and fear are the two hooks the world holds you by. Nothing out there is strong enough to rule you until you need it.

You are not disturbed by things, but by the importance you hand them. Take that back and the thing loses its authority over you.
