What does Judges 6:18 mean?

The plea to the messenger not to depart is the moment a person feels the higher presence stir within and begs it to stay while the lower nature prepares its offering. Gideon, whose name opens as one who cuts down, is the part of a man that will later break the false altars, and here he is only beginning, asking the inner visitor to wait.

The present he goes to bring is the fruit of his own effort, laid before the presence to be tested and accepted. The answer, that it will tarry until he returns, is the assurance that the awakened awareness holds steady inside a person for as long as it takes the flesh to make ready what it means to give.

  1. Take something you actually made today, the work, the meal, the hour of effort, and set it down without grading it. Let it be enough that you carried it in.
  2. Show one unfinished thing to one person you trust. Not for applause, just so it is out of your hands and in the open.
  3. When you feel a moment of unexpected clarity in a busy day, do not chase it away by rushing on. It will wait while you finish what is in front of you.

What have you been making that you have never once set down and let be seen?

He wrote that the guest who comes to the heart should be kept and welcomed, and that the welcome is made by what you are willing to set down in front of it.

The teaching is to bring your whole work to the teacher and let it be looked at honestly. What you make is the offering, and it has to be carried in to be seen.

Bhagavad Gita

Whatever you do, offer the fruit of it rather than clutching it. The work stays yours; the result is laid down.
