Luke 10:16 Meaning Whoever Listens to You Listens to Me

Whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever rejects you rejects me. Whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.

What does Luke 10:16 mean?

There is one voice for love, and to hear it in a brother is to hear it everywhere it speaks, for love is not divided among the many who carry it. When a mind receives the peace another offers, it is receiving the same truth that source and messenger share, since what is one cannot be welcomed in part.

There is one voice for love, and to hear it in a brother is to hear it everywhere it speaks, for love is not divided among the many who carry it. When a mind receives the peace another offers, it is receiving the same truth that source and messenger share, since what is one cannot be welcomed in part. To hear the laborer is to hear the love that sent him.

And the reverse is equally whole. To despise the messenger is to reject the message, and to reject the message is to turn from its source, because contempt shown to love in any form is contempt for love itself. This is not a threat but a simple statement of unity: how a mind treats the innocence it meets is how it treats the whole of what love is, for they were never separate things.

  1. Next time a stranger says something true to you, a cashier, a driver, a coworker you barely know, actually take it in rather than deciding in advance whether they are worth listening to.
  2. In a group chat, when someone you disagree with makes a fair point, say so plainly. Letting the point count is how you let the person count.
  3. When you feel the urge to dismiss someone because of their tone, their job, or their politics, pause and respond to what they said instead of to who you think they are.

Whose voice am I tuning out because of who is carrying it?

Every person is stamped from one seal and yet comes out unrepeatable. To treat one person with contempt is to hold the whole stamp in contempt.
