Resentment is manufactured by attention, and it always arrives feeling like someone else's fault.
Divided attention concentrates feeling rather than diluting it: every grievance it lands on gets the full charge, while the Lord sitting in her own house falls out of frame entirely. That deletion turns serving into a burden. A mind measuring undone work against who is not helping arrives at the meaning that nobody cares, the meaning sets the state, the state produces resentment, and resentment aims the complaint at the very person being served.
The request gives it away. She asks for the room to be rearranged rather than asking what she stopped looking at, and a person who lives that way waits years for other people to behave differently before the feeling is allowed to change, which leaves the quality of their days in someone else's hands.
