Luke 18:29 Meaning He Said to Them

He said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for God’s Kingdom’s sake,

What does Luke 18:29 mean?

To leave house and family for the kingdom's sake has little to do with walking away from those you love. It is an inner leaving, the releasing of the identity you have built out of them, the me and the mine the mind assembles from its roles and relationships.

Ego v. Being

To leave house and family for the kingdom's sake has little to do with walking away from those you love. It is an inner leaving, the releasing of the identity you have built out of them, the me and the mine the mind assembles from its roles and relationships.

You can live in the same house, love the same people, and no longer draw your sense of self from any of it. When you stop asking family and home to tell you who you are, the attachment loosens, and what remains is the presence underneath, the Being you are that never depended on them at all.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

The kingdom of God is the right hemisphere of the brain, the higher mind entered in silence, and everything a person leaves for its sake is an inner attachment surrendered rather than a household abandoned. The Essenes who kept this teaching practiced silent meditation and secret prayer and called no man father, because the true father is the higher mind itself.

House, parents, kin, and children are the structures of the outer self and its bonds, the whole apparatus of the lower life set down so the higher can be entered. Leaving them is the letting go inside that lets a man turn from the outer self toward the divine mind within.

House: the built-up outer self a person lives inside Parents: the sources of the outer identity, the father here the higher mind itself Brethren, wife, and children: the bonds and offshoots of the lower life, released so the higher mind can be entered

Ego v. Being lens

Live Luke 18:29 today

  1. Sit for a moment without any of your roles, not the parent, the child, the partner, the provider, and see who is left. That one does not need the titles to exist.
  2. At dinner or on a call, be with your person without needing them to confirm anything about you, no approval, no agreement, no proof you are good at this. Just be there with them.
  3. When a family member pushes an old button, remember they are not actually threatening who you are. Breathe once and answer the person in front of you instead of the history.

How much of who I think I am is borrowed from the people I love?
