Luke 2:23 Meaning (as It Is Written in the Law

(as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”),

What does Luke 2:23 mean?

Every firstborn thought of the lower mind is the one marked for sacrifice. The carnal nature comes out first, the burdensome run of images and cravings a person carries, and it is set apart not to be crowned but to be given up.

Every firstborn thought of the lower mind is the one marked for sacrifice. The carnal nature comes out first, the burdensome run of images and cravings a person carries, and it is set apart not to be crowned but to be given up. Sanctified to the Lord means offered on the altar of the still mind, slaughtered in meditation so the higher can take its place. The wording was altered by later hands to read male only, narrowing what once held both, and the tampering itself hints that the sense is not domestic history.

The law here is the fixed working order of energy, the way spirit takes form under one unchanging rule, the same order that governs current in a wire. What opens the womb enters that law and comes under its claim. The first yield of the flesh dies so the second birth can rise.

Womb: the generative depth of the lower nature, where the first crude thoughts are formed Law of the LORD: the fixed working order of energy by which spirit takes form and rises

  1. The next time a hot thought shows up, the resentful one, the craving one, let it come and then let it pass without acting on it. The first one through the door is the one to give up, not obey.
  2. In a group chat, write the sharp reply, then delete it instead of sending. You will feel the small death of it, and then you will feel better.
  3. When someone cuts you off in traffic or a colleague takes the credit, let the first surge rise and just breathe through it until the second, saner response arrives. That one is yours to use.

The first reaction is not the truth, it is only the first reaction. Let it arise, let it go, and do not hand it the wheel.
