Luke 20:15 Meaning They Threw Him Out of the Vineyard

They threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do to them?

What does Luke 20:15 mean?

The mind carries out its wish, casting the beloved beyond its borders and believing it has ended the claim upon it. This is the ego's dream of crucifixion, the conviction that love can be expelled from a life and put to death, that separation can at last be made complete.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The mind carries out its wish, casting the beloved beyond its borders and believing it has ended the claim upon it. This is the ego's dream of crucifixion, the conviction that love can be expelled from a life and put to death, that separation can at last be made complete. Yet what is cast out of the vineyard is only cast out of the dream, untouched by a killing that happens nowhere but in fear.

The closing question is not a threat of vengeance but an invitation to look at what the mind has done to itself. A fearful mind expects punishment because its own guilt has already prepared one, yet love does not answer attack with attack. What the source will do is call again.

Beloved: the true self cast out and seemingly slain, untouched in reality by a death that happens only within the dream. Vineyard: the mind's whole life, from which it imagines it can expel the love that gave it. Lord of the vineyard: the source that meets even this final attack not with vengeance but with another call to remember.

Live Luke 20:15 today

  1. Think of the part of yourself you have decided is finished, the softness or honesty you shut out years ago. It is not gone. Give it five minutes today.
  2. Go back to the person you were sure you had ended things with, inside yourself at least, and let the door be unlocked again. Nothing has to happen yet.
  3. When you expect punishment today, the manager's reply, the hard conversation, see whether the dread is theirs or yours. Most of our sentences were written by us.

What have I decided is dead that may simply be waiting outside the door I closed?
