Luke 20:44 Meaning David Therefore Calls Him Lord

“David therefore calls him Lord, so how is he his son?”

What does Luke 20:44 mean?

David is the whole human race gathered into one figure, the sum of everyone's experience fused into a single son. He calls this one Lord, and yet that same Lord is his own child.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

David is the whole human race gathered into one figure, the sum of everyone's experience fused into a single son. He calls this one Lord, and yet that same Lord is his own child. The puzzle dissolves once both names point to one being. The awareness of being, the I AM within a person, is the father, and everything that awareness has lived and produced is the son. The father is known only through the son, and the son exists only from the father.

So the Lord a person seeks is not above him and not ahead of him. He is what a person is now, met in what he has brought forth. No man sees his own face. He sees it only in what he has fathered.

Live Luke 20:44 today

  1. Scroll back through your own camera roll or sent messages for five minutes, not to judge any of it, just to meet the person who has been living this life. Everything there came from you. Let the whole of it introduce you to yourself.
  2. Ask someone close to you what they think you are actually like. Not fishing for praise, just honest curiosity. Other people hold the mirror you cannot hold yourself.
  3. When you want someone to give you a verdict, your manager, a client, a group chat, a comment section, go look instead at what you have already put into the world. Let the work report back to you before you ask the room to.

Where have you been looking up for something that was only ever going to appear in what you made?

Zen · Dogen

To study the self is to forget the self, and then the whole world confirms you. You never see your own face directly. You see it in everything that meets you.

Tao Te Ching 1

The nameless gives rise to the named, and the named is how the nameless becomes visible. Neither one is first in the way we keep trying to make it.

Judaism · Hasidic teaching

A person is told to keep two truths in both pockets: I am dust, and the world was made for my sake. Lived together, they are not a contradiction, they are one person seeing themselves whole.
