It will turn out as a testimony for you.
What the fearful mind dreads as an ordeal becomes, once the teacher is changed, an occasion to demonstrate what it has learned. The same event that the ego would use as evidence of attack, love uses as evidence of peace, for nothing that happens is forced to mean what fear insists it means.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY
What the fearful mind dreads as an ordeal becomes, once the teacher is changed, an occasion to demonstrate what it has learned. The same event that the ego would use as evidence of attack, love uses as evidence of peace, for nothing that happens is forced to mean what fear insists it means. A mind that meets the moment without terror shows, in that very calm, that it has chosen love.
The circumstance itself does not change; the witness it gives depends entirely on which teacher looks through the eyes. When a mind stands unshaken, its steadiness speaks for it, and that quiet is the whole of the message it was given to carry.

SELF-HELP
Whether a forced hearing becomes an opening depends entirely on who a person has decided to be before the doors open.
Being dragged somewhere and being sent somewhere look identical from the outside, and the difference is made entirely inside the person in custody. Count a seizure as an ending and the state drops to defense, and a man in defense says only what might get him released.
Jesus hands over the interpretation in advance because interpretation under pressure is retrieved, not invented. A man who never settled beforehand what an arrest is for will spend his one hearing trying to shrink, and the room he was handed closes with nothing said in it.

What would this difficult thing become if I stopped needing it to mean something bad?
Every hard circumstance is the occasion the practice was for. The situation does not choose what it means; you do, by how you meet it.
Before practice, mountains were mountains; in the middle, they were not; afterward, mountains are again mountains. Nothing out there moved, only the eyes.
Water meets obstacles without force and without complaint, and in that yielding it shows its nature more clearly than any effort could.
