Luke 21:28 Meaning But When These Things Begin to Happen

But when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near.

What does Luke 21:28 mean?

The very disturbances the ego reads as ruin are, to the awakened mind, the first sign that the dream is loosening its grip. Fear looks down and braces for the worst; love lifts its gaze and recognizes that what is falling away was never home.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The very disturbances the ego reads as ruin are, to the awakened mind, the first sign that the dream is loosening its grip. Fear looks down and braces for the worst; love lifts its gaze and recognizes that what is falling away was never home. To raise the head is to change the direction of looking, from the wreckage of illusions to the release that stands just beyond them.

Redemption draws near not because the world is being repaired but because the mind is ready to see it differently. What frightens the fearful is the same event that tells the healed that its long sleep is nearly over.

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

When the old order of a life begins to shake and fall, the movement that saves is upward. To lift the head is to raise attention out of the lower body and its churning, drawing the current from the belly and the ground of the flesh toward the crown of the skull.

Redemption is not an event arriving from outside on a far day, it is the inner light climbing back to the top of the head where it began. The buying-back of a person happens as consciousness returns to its highest seat.

Self-Help

The quickest way to change what a moment means to you is to change what your body is doing in it.

Dread has a posture. Eyes down, shoulders forward, breath high and shallow, and that arrangement keeps manufacturing the fear that created it. The instruction targets the one link under voluntary control, since nobody can decide to stop being afraid, but anybody can decide where the head points.

Once the eyes go up, focus has somewhere else to go, and focus decides what the same events mean, and meaning decides whether a person braces or moves. Reading collapse as redemption arriving is only possible from a state the body has already set up. Stay folded over and the same events read as the end, and a person spends the years meant for standing up looking at the ground.

Live Luke 21:28 today

  1. Think of one thing in your life that is falling apart right now, a plan, a job, a version of yourself you were holding onto. Ask quietly whether something in it was never really home.
  2. When someone tells you their bad news today, resist the urge to fix it. Just be the person in the room who is not panicking with them.
  3. Next time the day goes sideways, a cancelled flight, a project collapsing, a plan you built around, lift your eyes off the mess for one breath and ask what is actually opening. Then go back and handle it.

What am I bracing for that might turn out to be a door?
