Luke 21:31 Meaning Even So You Also

Even so you also, when you see these things happening, know that God’s Kingdom is near.

What does Luke 21:31 mean?

When the structures you have trusted begin to shake, when what seemed solid falls away and the familiar world comes apart, the mind cries out that the end has come. And in a sense it has, for every form eventually passes, and clinging to form is the root of human suffering.

Ego v. Being

When the structures you have trusted begin to shake, when what seemed solid falls away and the familiar world comes apart, the mind cries out that the end has come. And in a sense it has, for every form eventually passes, and clinging to form is the root of human suffering.

Yet these endings are not only loss. Each time something you were identified with crumbles, a space opens, and through that opening the changeless can be glimpsed. The kingdom is near in exactly these moments, because when the forms you hid inside come to pass and fall away, the presence they were covering is finally left standing in the open.

Live Luke 21:31 today

  1. If something you were counting on fell through recently, sit with the gap for a minute today instead of rushing to fill it with plans or scrolling. See what is still there when the plan is gone.
  2. When a friend's life is coming apart, resist fixing it or finding the bright side. Just stay close and let it be as hard as it is. Your steadiness is the help.
  3. When a role you lean on wobbles, the job, the title, the thing you are good at, feel yourself still breathing underneath it. You were never only that.

What have you built your sense of yourself on, and what remains when it shifts?

Buddhism

Everything made of parts comes apart. Seeing that clearly is not despair, it is the beginning of being free from clinging.

Taoism · Tao Te Ching

A room is useful because of the empty space in it. What has fallen away leaves an opening nothing solid could give you.

Sufism · Rumi

The wound is where the light enters. What breaks open in you is not only a loss, it is a way in.
