Luke 21:8 Meaning He Said

He said, “Watch out that you don’t get led astray, for many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is at hand.’ Therefore don’t follow them.

What does Luke 21:8 mean?

The warning is against the many voices within that claim to speak for love while leading the mind astray. The ego is endlessly inventive, and it learns to wear the name of truth, promising salvation in the language of the very thing it opposes.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The warning is against the many voices within that claim to speak for love while leading the mind astray. The ego is endlessly inventive, and it learns to wear the name of truth, promising salvation in the language of the very thing it opposes. To go after these is to follow guilt dressed as guidance, urgency dressed as revelation, the counterfeit that says the answer lies just ahead in some coming event.

So the mind is told to take heed and not be deceived. Truth does not arrive with alarm and does not point away from where the mind already stands. The one Voice for love speaks quietly and within, never sending the self chasing after saviors on the horizon, for what it offers was never somewhere else or someday soon.

Many: the ego's countless voices that borrow the name of love while leading the mind away from it The time drawing near: the false urgency by which fear disguises itself as revelation, sending the mind chasing an answer that is never where it already stands

AWARENESS

Indian Guru

Whoever announces himself has already answered the question: an ego is speaking, and ego is precisely what disappears in anyone who has arrived. The claim needs a listener, needs followers, needs somebody impressed, and that need is the whole disqualification.

Deadlines are the second trick. Fear of a date is fear again, and a frightened man hands over his intelligence to whoever offers shelter from it. Nothing protects except a man's own alertness: watching who speaks, watching what stirs in his belly when the promise lands, staying with the watching rather than the promise.

Live Luke 21:8 today

  1. When a video or a post promises you the answer you have been missing, close it and sit still for one minute instead. The urgency was the sales pitch, not the message.
  2. If a friend sends you something alarming in the group chat, do not pass it on in the same breath. Ask yourself whether it is informing you or working you up, then reply calmly or not at all.
  3. When a deadline turns everything into an emergency, slow your voice down on purpose. What is true will still be true at a normal speaking pace.

Tao Te Ching 47

You do not have to go anywhere to know. Chasing further and further out is how people lose the thing they already had.

If you meet the Buddha on the road, keep walking. Anything that sets itself up outside you as the answer is already not it.

What you are seeking is seated in your own heart, closer than anything you could travel to find. The search outward is the one thing that keeps it hidden.
