Luke 22:48 Meaning But Jesus Said to Him

But Jesus said to him, “Judas, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”

What does Luke 22:48 mean?

Betrayal wears the face of love here, and that is exactly how the ego works, using the appearance of closeness to deliver attack. The kiss that hands a brother to his enemies is guilt turned inside out, intimacy bent into a weapon, because a mind divided against itself will attack most sharply where it once loved.

Yet the question asked in return carries no condemnation. It sees the betrayer clearly and still does not name him guilty, for the one who is truly awake looks past the act to the frightened mind beneath it.

So the reader is shown that even the deepest apparent treachery can be met without accusation. The one betrayed does not become the ego's mirror by hating back; he holds the other innocent, and in that refusal to condemn, the whole logic of attack is quietly broken.

The kiss: the sign of love turned into a weapon, guilt disguised as closeness in a mind divided against itself The Son of man: the innocence in every mind that attack cannot touch, seen clearly even by the one being betrayed

Live Luke 22:48 today

  1. Think of the person whose betrayal still stings. Try one sentence about what they might have been afraid of. You are not excusing it, you are just stopping the story where they are only cruel.
  2. If someone close said something that cut while smiling, say the real thing instead of returning the jab. That hurt, and I'd rather you just told me straight.
  3. When a colleague undercuts you in an email with a polite tone, don't write the clever reply. Answer the actual content, keep your voice level, and let the sharpness have nowhere to land.

Who are you still holding guilty, and what has it cost you to keep holding it?

Meet the harsh ones with the same goodness you'd give the kind ones. The good person does not sort people into deserving and not.
