Luke 23:51 · World English Bible
(he had not consented to their counsel and deed), from Arimathaea, a city of the Jews, who was also waiting for God’s Kingdom:
He did not consent. Around him a collective momentum was carrying people toward a terrible deed, the way a crowd is swept along by a shared unconsciousness no one stops to question.
From the Ego v. Being reading below.
The same verse, read by one tradition.

EGO & BEING
He did not consent. Around him a collective momentum was carrying people toward a terrible deed, the way a crowd is swept along by a shared unconsciousness no one stops to question. He stayed apart, not through argument, but because something in him remained awake.
He was waiting for the kingdom of God. That kingdom is not a place or a coming event; it is the awakened presence within a human being. His waiting was really an inner readiness, an openness that kept him from being pulled into what everyone around him had accepted.
Ego v. Being lens
Where have you been going along with something you do not actually agree with?
He told himself that the opinions of the crowd are not a reason for anything, and that a mind can stay its own even inside a mob. You can be present in a room without joining its momentum.
He described the person who keeps their own center while everyone around them is carried off by excitement and outrage. They are not aloof, just not swept.
Refusing to take part in harm is itself the practice, not a lesser form of it. Staying clear is something you do, not something you fail to do.
