MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The two walking away from the empty tomb are not other people. They are anyone who has heard that all of Scripture is his own inner story and still waits for the meaning to arrive from outside. The awakened self, already risen inside the skull, calls them foolish for one reason. They read the prophets as a record of strangers long dead, when every word was written about the reader and the awakening set to happen in him.

Slow of heart names the delay between hearing this and feeling it as fact. The prophets promised that God, buried in a person, would wake as that person and know himself as the source of all he has lived. That waking is no scene on a distant road. It happens within, unwitnessed, the day awareness turns and knows itself as the Father it had been seeking outside.

Live Luke 24:25 today

  1. Read or listen to something today as though it were written specifically about your life, not about people in general. Where it stings or warms, stop there, that part is addressed to you.
  2. When a friend gives you advice you have already heard before, try actually taking it this once instead of nodding. The gap between hearing and doing is the only thing in the way.
  3. Under pressure, catch yourself waiting for someone to confirm you are allowed to feel settled. Stop waiting and feel settled now, with nothing signed off.

What have I been told clearly, more than once, that I still treat as being about somebody else?

Zen

The finger pointing at the moon is not the moon, and a student can spend years studying the finger. The teaching was always about where you are standing.

Sufism · Rumi

You wander the world asking for what you already carry, like someone searching the house for the keys in their hand. The search itself is the delay.

Upanishads · Chandogya

The teacher says it plainly, that essence is what you are, and it still has to be repeated many times before the student hears it about himself. Knowing the words is not the same as the words landing.
