Luke 5:13 Meaning He Stretched Out His Hand

He stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, “I want to. Be made clean.” Immediately the leprosy left him.

What does Luke 5:13 mean?

Love does not recoil from what believes itself unclean; it reaches out and joins with it, and in that joining the whole belief in defilement simply ends. The one thing the frightened mind could not do for itself was to know that its guilt had no substance.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Love does not recoil from what believes itself unclean; it reaches out and joins with it, and in that joining the whole belief in defilement simply ends. The one thing the frightened mind could not do for itself was to know that its guilt had no substance. Touched by a certainty gentler than its fear, it hears that the willingness it doubted is full and immediate, and there is nothing left to cleanse.

The healing is instant because nothing real was ever cured. What departed was only a conviction, the idea of a stain that love looked upon and did not see. The mind is restored not by repair but by the recognition that it was clean the whole time.

Hand: the reach of love that joins with what fears itself untouchable, closing the distance guilt had built Leprosy: the belief in a defilement that seemed to eat away the self, dissolved the instant love refused to see it

  1. Think of the thing about yourself you would never post, the one you have decided makes you unlovable. Sit with it for a minute without arguing or fixing, and let it be seen instead of scrubbed.
  2. Someone in your group chat or at your family dinner has a part of their life they half apologize for. Move toward it instead of away, with a question or just a steady presence that says nothing here needs cleaning up first.
  3. When a mistake at work surfaces and your chest tightens, skip the long defense you are already drafting in your head. Say what happened plainly, and act as if you are still fully welcome in the room, because you are.

What part of me am I still holding at arm's length, waiting for it to be clean enough to come close?
