Luke 5:19 Meaning Not Finding a Way to Bring Him

Not finding a way to bring him in because of the multitude, they went up to the housetop, and let him down through the tiles with his cot into the middle before Jesus.

What does Luke 5:19 mean?

A blocked door only stops the people for whom getting inside was merely a good idea. Certainty about the destination changes what the mind searches for.

A blocked door only stops the people for whom getting inside was merely a good idea.

Certainty about the destination changes what the mind searches for. While arrival stays optional, attention runs cost and permission; once it is fixed, attention runs routes, and the how shows up in places nobody had counted as a way in.

Tearing into a stranger's roof is expensive, rude, and impossible to undo, which is the bill a must pays and a should declines. Reaching Jesus turned out to be available to anyone willing to be that inconvenient. What keeping a goal optional costs is a lifetime of accurate reasons, every one of them true, with the friend still outside.

Live Luke 5:19 today

  1. Name the one thing you have been calling impossible and spend fifteen minutes finding the inconvenient route instead of the comfortable one. Write down three ways in, including the ones that cost you something.
  2. Carry something today for someone who cannot carry it themselves. Make the awkward phone call on their behalf, sit in the waiting room, drive across town. Let it actually inconvenience you.
  3. When the usual way is blocked today, the traffic, the system down, the person not replying, give yourself two minutes of routes before you give yourself reasons. Reasons are easier and they leave you standing outside.

Is the thing you want a decision you have made, or a good idea you are still admiring?
