Luke 5:4 Meaning When He Had Finished Speaking

When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch.”

What does Luke 5:4 mean?

The invitation to launch into the deep is spoken to a mind grown cautious from failure, and it asks for a willingness the mind cannot see the reason for. Love does not argue with past disappointment; it simply calls the mind out past the safe and familiar shallows into a trust it has not yet earned by evidence.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The invitation to launch into the deep is spoken to a mind grown cautious from failure, and it asks for a willingness the mind cannot see the reason for. Love does not argue with past disappointment; it simply calls the mind out past the safe and familiar shallows into a trust it has not yet earned by evidence. The deep is where certainty of self is not yet in sight, and only willingness can carry the mind there.

A mind that lets down its nets on love's word alone has already made the miracle possible. What it could not do by its own effort becomes easy the moment it stops relying on its own effort.

The deep: the vast openness of trust beyond the mind's familiar limits, where love asks it to venture Nets: the mind's readiness to receive, lowered in willingness even where past effort has failed

ESOTERIC

Esoteric

The higher voice directs the working faculty of a person to move off the shallows of surface living and cast into the depth, where the real catch waits below the threshold of ordinary awareness. Simon is the ordinary laboring self that has toiled on the surface and gathered nothing; the deep is the subconscious sea underneath waking thought. The net is the gathering, receptive mind lowered on purpose into that depth to draw up what the shallow effort could not reach. The abundance lives beneath the everyday level of the mind, and it is reached only when the working self stops skimming and lets its attention sink into the deeper waters within.

Deep: the deep sea of the subconscious underneath ordinary waking thought. Nets: the gathering, receptive mind lowered on purpose to draw up what lies below awareness. Draught: the abundant catch of realization waiting beneath the surface of the everyday mind.

Live Luke 5:4 today

  1. Try again today at one thing you quietly gave up on, with no promise to yourself that it will work. Open the document, make the call, lace the shoes, that is enough.
  2. Reach out to one person you assume is not interested. Send the message anyway, and let the outcome be theirs rather than something you decided in advance.
  3. In a meeting where you usually stay silent because the last time went badly, say the one sentence you are holding. You do not need to know how it will land before you say it.

Where has an old disappointment been quietly making your decisions for you?
