Luke 6:19 Meaning All the Multitude Sought to Touch Him

All the multitude sought to touch him, for power came out of him and healed them all.

What does Luke 6:19 mean?

What draws a crowd toward love is the recognition of something it has forgotten in itself. The healing that seems to flow from one to many is not a substance passing between bodies; it is the mind's own wholeness answered and awakened by the sight of wholeness undefended.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

What draws a crowd toward love is the recognition of something it has forgotten in itself. The healing that seems to flow from one to many is not a substance passing between bodies; it is the mind's own wholeness answered and awakened by the sight of wholeness undefended. To reach out toward it is already the beginning of the shift, the small willingness that lets the miracle be received.

The power did not belong to one and lack in the rest. A mind that looks on love without fear finds the same love rising in itself, and calls this being healed.

Multitude: the many parts of a single mind, each reaching for the wholeness it had believed lost. Virtue: not a symbol to decode but the reading's own subject, the extension of love that heals only the mind that looks.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

Presence radiates when a person is fully awake, and what moves through a crowd then is not doctrine or technique. Power went out of him. Something was given and spent, not merely an atmosphere others warmed themselves beside.

Anyone deeply at peace has that effect on a room. Their calm is contagious. Near such stillness a restless mind quiets, and in that quiet what was wounded begins to mend. Healing by touch alone makes sense this way: presence awakens presence, and when the noise inside a person falls silent, the mending that was always waiting is free to happen.

Live Luke 6:19 today

  1. Think of one person whose steadiness you admire and let yourself admit you want some of that. The wanting is not weakness, it is the thing already starting.
  2. Spend time today with someone who is easy to be around and let yourself be unguarded for a few minutes. Say the thing you would normally keep back, and see what settles in you.
  3. When a room turns sharp, in a meeting or a family dinner, find the one person there who is not defending anything and keep your eyes on them. Let their calm be the thing you borrow until it stops feeling borrowed.

When I admire something in another person, what am I actually remembering about myself?

Zen

A student does not receive enlightenment from the teacher like a parcel handed over. Sitting near someone undefended, the student recognizes what was already there.

What you seek is seeking you, and the longing itself is the proof of the link. The reaching out is not the distance, it is the meeting beginning.

Simply looking upon the awakened one is itself held to be the gift. Nothing passes across; something hidden in the looker wakes up.
