Luke 6:22 Meaning Blessed Are You When Men Hate You

Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they exclude and mock you, and throw out your name as evil, for the Son of Man’s sake.

What does Luke 6:22 mean?

When a mind chooses love, the fear in others may recoil, and their rejection can feel like proof that the choice was wrong. Yet the hatred that casts one out is only guilt defending itself, unwilling to look on an innocence it has denied in itself.

Christian Psychology

When a mind chooses love, the fear in others may recoil, and their rejection can feel like proof that the choice was wrong. Yet the hatred that casts one out is only guilt defending itself, unwilling to look on an innocence it has denied in itself. To be shut out by fear for love's sake is not a loss; it is a sign that the mind has ceased to speak the ego's language, and no longer belongs to the company of the separated.

The blessing lies in seeing the attack for what it is. A mind reproached by fear can hold the one who reproaches it as innocent still, and in that refusal to condemn is untouched.

Men: the frightened minds that cast out what they cannot yet forgive in themselves. Name: the identity the world assigns, which fear can revile but cannot alter, for the true Self it points to is beyond its reach.

  1. If someone left you off an invite or went quiet on you, sit with the sting for a minute without building a case against them. Ask what they might be afraid of.
  2. When a group chat turns on someone, do not join and do not lecture. Say one plain, kind thing about the person, or say nothing and let the pile-on run out of air.
  3. When criticism lands in an email or a review, read it twice, then try to see the pressure the sender is under. Answer the part that is true and let the rest go unanswered.

Whose rejection am I still treating as a verdict on who I am?
