Luke 7:19 Meaning John

John, calling to himself two of his disciples, sent them to Jesus, saying, “Are you the one who is coming, or should we look for another?”

What does Luke 7:19 mean?

John is a state every person passes through on the way to another. He is the outer change, the moral reform, the man who has cleaned up his life and now waits.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

John is a state every person passes through on the way to another. He is the outer change, the moral reform, the man who has cleaned up his life and now waits. From that state he sends to ask whether this is the promised one or whether to look further. The question is honest and belongs to a stage: reform is not yet the birth of Christ within, and John rightly senses he has not arrived.

Everyone moves through the state named John before reaching the state named Jesus Christ. To believe in Jesus Christ is to believe the I AM within you is God, not to wait on a savior outside. No other one is coming. The one who "should come" is your own awareness of being, and the waiting ends when the son within explodes and calls you Father. Then the searching stops, because you have found yourself.

Live Luke 7:19 today

  1. Sit with the sentence you have been saying for years, that once this one thing arrives you will feel settled. Try living one hour today as if nothing more is coming because nothing more is needed.
  2. Stop waiting on one person to hand you something, approval, a yes, an apology. Go into your next conversation with them already holding what you were going to ask for.
  3. When things tighten today and the old reflex looks around for rescue, a call, a sign, someone to decide for you, pause. Find the steady part of yourself that is already here and act from that.

Who have you been waiting for that was always you?

The same truth in other traditions

Zen

If you look for the Buddha outside yourself, you will not find him. The one you are waiting for is doing the waiting.

Upanishads

You are That. The search ends not in arrival somewhere else, but in recognizing what has been nearest all along.

Sufism

After long traveling, the seeker finds the beloved was the one searching. No one else was ever coming.
