Luke 7:48 Meaning He Said to Her

He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

What does Luke 7:48 mean?

Forgiveness is not a reward earned by feeling but a correction spoken into a mind that has laid down its own case against itself. The words do not pardon a real crime; they announce that the crime was never as solid as it seemed, a figure in a dream now overlooked and gone.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

Forgiveness is not a reward earned by feeling but a correction spoken into a mind that has laid down its own case against itself. The words do not pardon a real crime; they announce that the crime was never as solid as it seemed, a figure in a dream now overlooked and gone. What the mind carried as a debt is simply lifted, and it finds it was permitted to lay it down all along.

This is the whole of the miracle. Nothing in the body changes, nothing in the past is rearranged. Only the teacher changes, from the fear that kept the account to the love that closes it, and the mind that hears is set free by being told what was always true of it.

EGO & BEING

Ego v. Being

She had come weeping, pouring out her love without a word of defense, holding nothing back. And to her he says the burden is lifted. What she carried was not only her wrongdoing but the whole heavy identity built around it, the self that says I am the one who has failed.

Forgiveness dissolves that self in the present moment. It does not rewrite the past. It frees her from being defined by it, so she can stand in this moment whole. When you stop feeding the story of who you have been, the weight of it lets go of you. She is released, and for the first time she is simply here.

Live Luke 7:48 today

  1. Say the thing you have never forgiven yourself for, out loud, alone in the car. Then say that it is finished, and let the silence after it stand.
  2. If there is someone who already told you it was okay and you kept apologizing, stop apologizing. Accepting it is your part of the exchange.
  3. When the old mistake replays on you in the middle of a workday, do not relive it or argue with it. It was settled. Go back to what you were doing.

What have I been allowed to put down for years without realizing it?

In learning you gain something daily, in the Way you lose something daily. What frees you is subtraction, not acquisition.
