What does Luke 8:1 mean?

The one who moves through every city and village is your own awareness of being, and the cities and villages are the countless states of mind a person passes through in a day. He carries good news into all of them: the kingdom of God is your own imagination, and it answers to whatever you assume.

MANIFESTATION

Manifestation

The one who moves through every city and village is your own awareness of being, and the cities and villages are the countless states of mind a person passes through in a day. He carries good news into all of them: the kingdom of God is your own imagination, and it answers to whatever you assume. Nothing you meet is outside its reach, so no mood is too low or too crowded for that awareness to enter and change it from within.

The twelve who go with him are not companions on a road. They are the disciplined powers of your own mind, the ordered attention that follows awareness wherever it goes. When those powers are gathered and awake, imagining is deliberate rather than accidental, and the state you hold is the state you live from. A person becomes what he steadily assumes himself to be, and the whole inner company moves with that assumption.

Live Luke 8:1 today

  1. Walk through today's moods as rooms you are visiting rather than places you live. Arrive in the dull one, the irritated one, the hopeful one, carrying the same quiet with you.
  2. Enter one conversation you were dreading with the state you want rather than the one you expect. The group chat, the family call, the coworker who drains you.
  3. When a notification yanks your attention sideways, gather it back on purpose. Three or four times today is plenty to feel the difference.

Which room in your day have you been avoiding instead of entering?

The same truth in other traditions

Buddhism

There is no state of mind too crowded or too low for awareness to enter. Attention can reach the worst of them.

Tao Te Ching

Water goes into every low place and nothing is left out. What is soft reaches further than what is forceful.

Bhagavad Gita

A steady mind, trained and gathered, is the one that holds. Scattered attention is carried wherever the moods go.
