Luke 9:46 Meaning An Argument Arose Among Them About

An argument arose among them about which of them was the greatest.

What does Luke 9:46 mean?

The quarrel over who is greatest is the ego's native argument, and it arises in every mind that still believes worth is a quantity to be won from others. Where there is comparison there is separation, for one mind can only stand higher if another stands lower, and this ranking is the whole machinery of guilt.

CHRISTIAN PSYCHOLOGY

Christian Psychology

The quarrel over who is greatest is the ego's native argument, and it arises in every mind that still believes worth is a quantity to be won from others. Where there is comparison there is separation, for one mind can only stand higher if another stands lower, and this ranking is the whole machinery of guilt. As long as the mind is busy counting who is above whom, it cannot remember that all minds are equal in the same light.

The reasoning feels like ambition but it is really fear, the fear of being nothing dressed as the wish to be more. Peace does not come from winning the comparison. It comes from setting the whole scale down and seeing that no one stands above another where all are one.
